Competition 'Le Festival des Cabanes'
A festival of architecture that raises the question about the relationship we have with the natural environment. "How do we settle there? What relationship do we have with our landscapes, with our environment? How do we find our rightful place? It seems that these questions are deeply topical. The hut festival as a new beginning, a way of looking to the future” (1).
It invites to design a hut as a 'declaration of love' to the landscape around Lake Annecy and as a 'magical place of childhood - as a place of beginnings and new beginnings' (2).
Our competition entry proposes a new start for 32 used wood panels and a transformation into a new life. We asked ourselves how we would imagine a place of childhood and designed an own ‘world’ that is connected to and embedded in the ‘real world’. It offers an open canopy embedded in the beautiful landscape of Lake Annecy in France. And it offers a place of connection between culture and nature that draws attention to the vulnerability of this relationship.
